The Ashoka Law for All Initiative (LFA) is a unique programme at Ashoka which searches, selects and supports both established and young social entrepreneurs innovating to make the legal system more accessible, inclusive and effective in India.
The concept of "access to justice," which is fundamental to India's constitutional vision and the foundation of its legal system, is not frequently viewed to correspond well with practical considerations.
In this report, the LFA conducted an impact study to understand the status quo and the key strategies for leading social entrepreneurs, lawyers, and young changemakers to bring about systemic change towards equitable access to justice. 32 organizations and 58 young changemakers participated in this survey, and eight pioneers from the legal and social justice field participated in in-depth interviews.
Some of the key themes addressed are Unpacking Changemaking in Law, Building with the Community, Catalysing Collaborations, Data for Justice, Demystifying Legal Literacy, and Powering Changemaking through Social Media.
